What is typhoid fever?

Bacteria named as Salmonella typhimurium causes the infection called Typhoid. These bacteria live in the parts human body such as bloodstreams and intestine. It usually gets spread by the direct contact between an individual and infected person’s feces. Not any of the animals carry Typhoid, so the infection takes place between human to human.

If not treated, the ratio of death case is 2 : 6. And if treated, there are less than 5 deaths in 100 cases.

These bacteria takes entry through the mouth and stays in the intestine for 1-3 weeks. After living in intestine they further move towards bloodstream. Once they reach there, then they spread in all the tissues and organs. And after reaching all over our immunity system reacts as these bacteria grow intracellularly. It means, they have the ability to live in the human cells.

Typhoid gets identified after discovering the presence of Salmonella typhi through blood, urine, bone marrow and stool.

At this point, people starts giving out symptoms such as high fever. These bacteria also attacks the bowel lymphatic tissue, gall bladder and biliary system. In such systems these bacterias multiply in very large amount. The bacteria are also found in the stool samples. To make a diagnosis, blood samples are also taken only when the other test results are not clear.

There are also other symptoms pain in abdomen, weakness, headaches, constipation and most of like diarrhea and vomiting.
